The SPACE Upstairs is a creative community

"A Week of Creativity, Connection, and Community”

Last weekend, The S.P.A.C.E Upstairs was alive with gathering—not just in dance, but in shared purpose and community. As we led into an important planning session, the entire weekend was filled with connection through conversation, expressive art-making, and of course, joyful movement indoors and out.

Our strategic planning day brought together key stakeholders and community members to reflect, dream, and shape the future of our organization. We were graciously hosted by Julia at Santosha Farm and Missing Link Adventure Tours, in the beautifully warm and art-filled LIINK building, nestled in nature. The space offered the perfect setting for connection, creativity, and care. Julia’s nourishing meals—prepared with ingredients grown on her own farm—felt like more than food. It was a reminder that from small seeds, something sustaining and beautiful can grow. As we imagined the future of The S.P.A.C.E Upstairs, her hospitality grounded and inspired us. We’re so grateful to Julia and the Santosha team for creating a space that truly feeds both body and spirit.

The weekend also featured a special extended edition of our monthly Ecstatic Dance, enriched by interactive community art activities thanks to Corinne Alice in Wonderland and Christine Charette. Participants explored visual expression alongside movement, surrounded by music, instruments, and thoughtful creative prompts.

The momentum continued into the week, with guest artist Carrie Schiffler joining our “Techniques and Routines” dance class to guide students through watercolour exploration—an invitation to blend visual art and movement in a playful, embodied way.

This vibrant stretch of programming is a testament to what The S.P.A.C.E Upstairs is all about: cultivating artistic experiences that are immersive, collaborative, and rooted in care. As a small but mighty not-for-profit, we know the arts are more than performance—they’re a vital part of how we move through the world, connect with each other, and imagine what’s possible.
